Holz ist Trumpf
Out of the woods

We believe in environmentally friendly construction –the buildings we design and construct have the lowest possible carbon footprint. Our goal is climate-positive construction, which is why our primary building material is wood. Naturally, we also integrate solar and other renewable energies into our buildings.

As project developers and impact investors, we champion sustainable urban and neighborhood development. We create affordable housing. 100,000 m² of living space is currently in development or under construction as part of our projects.

Multi-generational housing
We are firm believers in mixed-usage building projects; the living spaces we create are functionally and socially diverse. In Berlin, for example, we developed and built a multi-generational residential complex with a day care facility and senior center; 30 percent of the apartments are government-subsidized. The complex features a communal garden and common room to promote interaction between residents. The building is made of wood and was constructed using a modular design. Renewable energy is supplied by photovoltaic and geothermal systems. We plan to develop further projects like this one in the years to come.
Timber construction modules
Modular construction with wood combines the benefits of timber as a building material with the advantages of standardized, industrial building: environmental friendliness, low weight, highly efficient manufacturing, and the ability to plan with confidence. As the lead investor, we partnered with long-standing Swiss timber construction company Renggli AG to establish Germany's largest production facility for wooden construction modules and elements near the city of Berlin. Production is scheduled to launch in 2023. In the future, we hope to use the modules from this facility to construct affordable, environmentally friendly housing in densely populated urban areas.
Climate-neutral living
We don’t believe in half-hearted compromises. A climate-neutral lifestyle is possible – and we aim to prove it. With our partner KoDorf, we are developing wooden homes in rural neighborhoods and supplying them with sustainable energy and food sources. Residents live and work together in a traditional town structure. We provide planning support for projects like this – residences and community centers, with solar, wind, and other renewables as the primary sources of power, and climate-neutral transportation solutions. The final touch is the community’s proprietary food supply system, supported by Saxovent’s partner companies. In short: climate-neutral living is our most visionary undertaking. It pools our expertise in our four primary areas of business: wind, solar, agriculture, and real estate.
