Saxovent Renewables and HIH Real Estate Combine Expertise to Develop Sustainable Energy Solutions for Real Estate Portfolios

Partnership to sustainably harness energy potential in real estate portfolios

Berlin, September 11, 2026 – Saxovent Renewables GmbH & Co. KG and HIH Real Estate GmbH are combining their expertise to expand the use of renewable energy in real estate portfolios. Together, they will analyze, develop, and implement sustainable energy solutions on suitable existing properties.

The partnership will identify untapped potential in existing properties and use it to develop energy solutions that remain economically viable over the long term. In particular, the partners will examine roof areas and existing infrastructure to determine how renewable energy generation can best be integrated into current real estate strategies.

Making existing buildings part of the energy transition calls for practical, economically viable solutions. Together with HIH, we are creating the basis for systematically identifying the potential of available space and efficiently implementing sustainable energy concepts. In particular, existing properties offer enormous potential to combine renewable energy with existing structures, creating economic benefits for property owners, tenants and system operators while improving sustainability.

Jan Steggewentz, Branch Manager and Head of PV Project Development at Saxovent Renewables

The partners approach each property’s energy needs comprehensively: In addition to conventional photovoltaic solutions, they assess further options for energy supply and optimization based on the specific site. By making the best possible use of available space, they aim to make properties both environmentally and economically sustainable over the long term.

With Saxovent, we are adding another strong partner to our platform. Three joint projects will enter the implementation phase this year alone, with others already under development. We consistently take a modular approach to energy and see a natural synergy between real estate and renewable energy. Depending on the property, we integrate battery storage, charging infrastructure or heat pumps in addition to photovoltaics. We are convinced that renewable energy will become an integral part of real estate, driven by sustainability requirements, the expectations of investors and tenants, and regulatory requirements. For our funds, this not only generates additional revenue but also creates opportunities to increase the long-term value of the properties, while tenants benefit from affordable, green electricity generated on site. Strong partnerships are essential to making this work – from developers such as Saxovent and general contractors to technical consultants.

Fynn Rotzoll, Project Lead for PV Rooftops at HIH Invest Real Estate

As requirements for energy efficiency, ESG criteria and security of supply continue to increase, making intelligent use of existing infrastructure is becoming increasingly important. The partnership between Saxovent Renewables and HIH Real Estate provides a framework for doing so and is intended to be extended to several locations in the future.
