Change in Leadership: Matthias Brandt Becomes the New CEO of Saxovent Renewables

Berlin, September 18, 2026 – Matthias Brandt is taking over as managing director of the full-service provider in renewable energies Saxovent Renewables. The 56-year-old, who holds a degree in economics, brings 27 years of experience in the renewable energy sector to the role. The current CEO, Thorsten Freise, will leave Saxovent Renewables at the end of September. At the international trade fair WindEnergy Hamburg, the two will jointly represent Saxovent Renewables and introduce Brandt as the new CEO.

Pioneers of the Energy Transition

With this change in management, the company is preparing for changing market conditions, driven primarily by regulatory changes such as the amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act (EEG) and the Grid Package.

Thorsten Freise has done a fantastic job over the past two years and set us on the right course. He transformed Saxovent Renewables into a full-service provider for end-to-end project development, quadrupled the project pipeline, opened two new locations, and significantly expanded the solar division. Now the next phase begins. We are delighted to have Matthias Brandt join us—a visionary with an outstanding network and a pioneer of the energy transition. As CEO and member of the Executive Board, Matthias Brandt shaped the development of Deutsche Windtechnik AG for 20 years. From 2005 to the end of 2025, he built the company from a small service provider into an internationally successful technology leader.

Intelligent Linking

“My vision is a highly electrified market across all sectors—whether industry, end customers, heating, or mobility—that is increasingly powered by renewable energy,” says Brandt, adding: “Saxovent Renewables is an appealing and forward-looking player with a high level of expertise and agility. The challenge now is to link demand and the various sectors even more effectively with decentralized generation capacities—and to do so in an economically viable way.”

Dominik Winau will also step down from the management board of Saxovent Renewables effective September 30. He will hand over his operational responsibilities to Sascha Rösler, who also oversees the Saxovent Group’s finances.

Saxovent at WindEnergy Hamburg

At WindEnergy Hamburg, the leading trade fair for the wind industry, the Saxovent Group will be exhibiting for the first time with a joint booth. In addition to Saxovent Renewables, the group also includes solarpunx and windpunx—service partners for wind and solar farms—and the asset manager Aurevo Energy. Visitors can find the Saxovent Group from September 22 to 25 at the Hamburg exhibition center in Hall A1, Booth No. 430.
